John Gorman took great pleasure in this commentary in The Advocate, a local free newspaper in the New Haven, Connecticut, area that ran an issue on "the best of everything as voted on by the readers." "If you ran an alternative artists' gallery likeArtspace, how could you not lovea visitor like Sam Peterson? He showed up one day last year to look at the latest exhibit at New Havens cutting edge space on Crown Street. 'We had never met someone who knew so many of the artists who were on the walls. He was truly interested in their careers and had an opinion about the work we were showing,' recalls Helen Kauders, Airspace's executive director." Sam introduced Artspace to an artist then showing in New York an exhibit about Palestinian life under the occupation, and now that exhibit has come to New Haven.

Walker Peterson is exuberant about Em Houck's book, Go Huskies! Beat Felix the Cat, and heartily recommends it as "a thumbnail sketch of American history, one that reminds us of where we have come from and where we are going."

Our class president, Glen French, issued a progress report on objectives we set in anticipation of our 50th reunion. We've had very encouraging reports from Wally Pugh about increases in our class participation in the Alumni Fund. Russ Cooper-Mead reports 41 classmates have con- tributed "think pieces" in five perspectives and commentary sections of "the book." The Senior Fence has been moved to the south end of the Green, and a plaque to identify our participation will soon be affixed. Visit it when you return for Homecoming this fall. The installation of a Dartmouth College sign at the southwest entrance to the Green is still working its way through the College's processes, reports Dick Whiteny; but be of good courage, it will be done. Doug Keare has established a "buddy system" for our 50th. I suspect phone calls, notes and a knocking at your door are all strategies that will be employed to assure us of a great turnout. I've been assured by the College that our efforts to build bridges with the class of '06 will be supported so that we can come to know each other. On graduation day we're going to be marching with this great class! Flint Ranney continues to produce seven terrific class newsletters a year, a remarkable gift to the class and the College. Six of our seven planned mini-reunions have already taken place this year, thanks to the efforts of Tom Rosenwald, Tony Bruscino, Bob Slater, Jack Crowley, Tag Chapman, Ed Ross, Roger Schumacher, Buddy Schattm n and a host of others. Only Homecoming, October 2931, remains this year. All of those who've shared in these efforts are to be commended for their efforts to keep us connected.

Sadly, two more classmates have died since the last column, Frederick A.C. Baker and Leon Earle Induni. Obituaries appear in this issue of the DAM.
