Just think that 2 o years ago in June we graduated from Dartmouth College. I really can't believe that we have been out that long. I hope that many classmates had the opportunity to gather together and reminisce at the various regional mini-reunions that took place over the spring and summer.

The theme for this column is freshman trips. I fondly remember my trip of hiking and camping with our fearless leader, Mike Sapers '82. Somehow we forgot the recipes for the food that was supplied and we ended up with a number of very interesting meals. I have heard recently of the Jetboil cooker—which I am sure would have come in handy on our trip. Jetboil is the invention of fellow '84 Dwight Aspinwall and his cousin, Periy Dowst (Yale '83—but we won't hold it against him). The Jetboil cooker is a thermos-sized butane fueled cooker with a very efficient design which received the Editors Choice Award from Backpacker magazine. Dwight is lucky enough to be residing in Hanover while supervising the manufacturing and marketing of his invention at a plant in Guild, New Hampshire. Jetboil is available now at EMS and REI (and other places). Dwight and his wife, Gayle, are busy at home too with their three sons, ages 2 years and 15-months (twins). Dwight remembers that on his freshman trip (a pretty intense backpacking one) they created a homemade sauna by heating up rocks in a fire, building a stick structure, putting the hot rocks inside and all going in naked. Sounds like fun.

Sonia Chae recalls that on her freshman trip she managed to fall off the trail. In the process she ripped her jeans, showing offher brightly colored underwear to her fellow hikers. What a way to make a good first impression! Sonia now resides in Lincoln Park, Chicago, with her husband, Bob Agler '83. They have a 9-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter. Sonia works in downtown Chicago as an attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

I was looking for more freshman trip stories but did not come up with any—because Frank Polsinello did not go on a freshman trip. But Frank was kind enough to humor me and let me know that he and his wife, Lisa, reside in Cohoes, New York (north of Albany). They have three children, Ryan (11), Matthew (8) and Emily (4). Frank is a financial consultant for Janney, Montgomery Scott and his wife runs a jewelry business. Frank has a number of our classmates as clients.

Eric Taylor, whom I mentioned in a prior column, was kind enough to answer my e-mail request for additional information about his life. He responded: "I have two daughters, Haley (6) in first grade and April (20) a junior at UCLA. April is a K-Swiss Commercial model. I had dinner with Matty Lopes in San Francisco last week to reminisce about Dear Ole Dartmouth. He's a partner at a prominent law firm in Rhode Island. Other than that, I have no life." It seems indeed that many of us are juggling work and children.
