As I am writing this in Maine, fall arrived here last Tuesday, August 16. The summer was beautiful, though with some unusual 95-degree humid days. Now the fireplace is in full use, and it feels good. Have any of you heard of the movie Ladies in Lavender with Judy Dench and Maggie Smith? We saw it during the summer, and highly recommend it.

With very few members '29 is still doing well, giving to the annual Alumni Fund. Many widows are loyal contributors as well, and the class has every reason to be proud.

Another classmate has died. Webster Goodwin, July 2 in Warwick, Rhode Island. He was known to many as Slew, but to most he was Web. He preferred the Dartmouth of his days, but with Rip's prompting always came through for the Alumni Fund. We extend our sympathy to his family.

Rip says:

"Speak up for what you know is true Then it won't matter what you do."
