By now, as you have probably heard, I have lost the best part of my life in the passing of "My Richard." Through your Dick Francis I had the wonderful pleasure and privilege of meeting the amazing class of 1938 something I have always cherished and which has found a very special place in my heart and a priceless gift for which there is no value. The fondness I have come to feel for the members of the class, to include their spouses, significant others and family, is something that.has only grown with time.
I would like very much to continue to be a part of "your lives" and, as such, I am seeking your concurrence in continuing the work Richard did for this beloved class by accepting the position of class secretary. This is something I spoke about with both Bob Reeve and George Kingsbury. In our discussions, I made it a very emphatic point to say that if there was any class member who wanted to take this position over, they need only make their intentions known-it is not my intention to usurp anyone's feelings or desires in this matter. So, please contact Bob, George or myself and we will do anything and everything we can to make the transition for you a comfortable one.
I regret to pass on that the class of 1938 has lost another "son of Dartmouth"—John Adams. Among the many accomplishments of John's life, and there were many, was a truly remarkable record of attending every home and away game played by the Dartmouth football team against Holy Cross or Harvard for 57 consecutive years. I think even Mammy O'Reilly would be proud of this—anyone not knowing who Mammy is/was, drop me a line or, better yet, give me a call (413-596-6246).
My very best to all of you.
