First things first—get out your calendars and block off June 15-18 for our 25th class reunion in Hanover. There are too many festivities to fit into a weekend so this is a threenighter. Not to get too competitive, but the class of 1980 just broke an attendance record at their 25 th reunion this spring and we have to beat them! Our politically correct reunion chair, Rick Silverman, says its quality, not quantity that counts, but we have to beat them!
There have been many recent sightings reported of '81s. Becky (Nyren) Shepardson toured the country this summer with her husband, Dan, and sons Will and James. Departing from Maryland they headed to Chicago, Wyoming, South Dakota and Glacier National Park in Montana. Talk about family bonding! As Cathy (Haley) Rost commented, "I hope the gas prices are cheaper there than they are here. Her trip reminds me of the road trip that Suzy [Sudik off Weixel], Becky and I took back from Aspen our junior year at Dartmouth. We drove for days on end, sometimes for 14 hours straight. Luckily, we had Mr. Sudikoff's gas card!" Those were the days.
Patsy Fisher caught up with lots of classmates this summer: "One of the great perks of living and working in Hanover is that classmates touch base as they are swinging through town. Most recently (and scarily), friends are coming with collegebound students in tow, looking at Dartmouth as prospective students. Judy Yun visited with son John, and Tim Seeley brought son Jeremy. I also had the unexpected pleasure of running into Weyman Lundquist at Sachem Field, where our two sets of 10-year-old twins attended soccer camp. Tim was visiting at the same time, so I couldn't resist organizing an impromptu mini-reunion cookout." With the same thought in mind, Mark Molloy, currently residing in West Hartford, Connecticut, e-mailed: "My daughter's only a high school sophomore and she's already looked at Hanover. We'll check the campus out this summer (as well as winter) and at the reunion. Then we'll see what she says." Way to boost those reunion numbers!
Bob Dale updated us on his family: "I'm a husband (to wife Brenda) and father of three, ages 14 (daughter Kelly), 13 (Bobby jr.) and 11 (Brendan). Spend most of my time coaching basketball and track, teaching my charges the subtleties of mediocrity that characterized my athletic career. In my spare time I have my own real estate development company (Buckingham Partners), specializing in large-scale residential developments throughout the Northeast and New England."
Christopher Kenneally, a West Roxbury, Massachusetts, native, has written a book titled Massaclntsetts101: The 101 Events That Made Massachwetts. Chris, who is director of author relations for Copyright Clearance Center, includes topics such as the Big Dig and the Red Sox's World Series win.
Andrew Lewin wrote us about his creative pursuits, "I am very involved in photography as trustee of the international center of photography in New York, and the Hood is showing photographs that I've donated to Dartmouth from my collection of contemporary Chinese photography as part of its 20th anniversary show."
That's all for now. Get ready to head to Hanover in June and enjoy the company of old friends. We hope to see all of you at our 25th reunion!
