Hello '99s! Another year is fast drawing to a close, and I have several wedding announcements to share with you. First, Jessica Kelley married Todd Garrett (Citadel) on July 16 on beautiful Kiawah Island, located near Charleston, South Carolina, where Jessica has lived for the past four years. Candice Buckley writes that Jessica and Todd were engaged in May 2004, just before Todd went to Iraq to serve as an officer in the Marine Corps. Todd returned home last February. Several '99s were in attendance at their wedding, including Courtney and Jamie Peschel, Amy Yamner, Jen Welsh and Sarah Dinwoodey. Also attending were Jessica's brother, Eric Kelley '01 and Jim Thompson '01. Jessica and Todd began their lives together with a move to Peru to help start a microfinance fund.
Also in July, Julia Henneberry and Neal Sharma were married in Summit, New Jersey. Alexis Starke writes: "It was a very fabulous wedding and Julia and Neal seem extremely happy together." Both are currently teaching in Summit. Dartmouth alums in attendance included Ali McKinley (Jefferson), Melanie Kay '00, Maureen McAleer, Leah Campbell, Elizabeth Davis, Leslie Kinsey, Meghan McMenamy, Scotty McConnaughey, Carolyn Wang and Brad Jefferson '98.
In addition, Sarah Kelmenson and Derek Chau were married on August 27 in Newton, Massachussets. Erin Loback notes that several Dartmouth alums participated in the wedding, including Cynthia Kelmenson '95, John Cruz, Steve Wright, Erin Loback, Allison Lee, Rupa Mukherjee and Lucas Bianchi. Others attending the wedding included: Kate Garvey (Creskoff) and husband Matt Garveyjeff Cummins '9B, Jane Dewitt, Danni Downing, Ros (Prabharasuth) Douglas, Krispin Leydon, Dave Lipman and Ed Suh. Missing was Sarah's cousin, Daniel Kelmenson '07, who was in the middle of sophomore summer finals. Derek began his third year at Harvard Law School this past fall, and Sarah is in her third year of residency in emergency medicine at Rhode Island Hospital. Derek and Sarah now live in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Also, Elizabeth Davis that she is engaged to Charles Lozner (Yale '99)- Elizabeth writes that Charles proposed to her earlier this year on the summit of Camel's Hump Mountain in northern Vermont. They currently reside in Burlington, Vermont, where Elizabeth is a practicing structural engineer and Charles is the general manager of a ski design/manufacture company.
In other news, Ann DeBord Smith writes that she and her husband have moved to Chicago, where they both began medical school this fall. Ann spent the previous year and a half in Boston, where she worked as a programmer doing research for an orthopedic surgery lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. While in Boston Ann had the opportunity to see Catherine Johnson, who is doing a residency in orthopedic surgery, and Heather Brandling-Bennett who is doing her dermatology residency. Ann writes: "When we moved to Chicago we had a chance to catch up with Dave and Meg Lysy before they moved to Washington, D.C.They were very welcoming and gave us great tips for the city."
