What are you doing in mid- June, the 13th to the 16th? I hope (and many others do, too) to see you then in Hanover. You've gotten a mailing or two, read about it in this column and in sify and probably talked about it to a classmate or two. Now, do it! Come back to our 55th reunion. Here goes a summary of last fall's meeting of the '5O executive committee. The meeting was called to order by president Bud Gleason at 9:25 a.m.with 16 classmates attending. A moment of silence was held for classmates who had died since the last meeting. The minutes of the February 2004 meeting were distributed.
Fizz Nichols gave the treasurers report. Class dues for the preceding year were up 6 percent. Other income was down slightly. In preparations for our June 55 th reunion class meeting and in order to facilitate the adoption of a revised class constitution at that meeting, Fizz presented a review of the changes to be made and asked that after discussion the executive committee approve the revised class constitution. He noted that the same changes had been discussed at the February's, 2002, mini, but that there had not been a quorum present to adopt the changes.
The changes to be made are as follows: 1. That widows of classmates be made members of the class with all the privileges and obligations of class members.
2.That two of the leadership succession officers positions be deleted, namely, the office of vice president and the office of assistant head class agent.
3. That upon dissolution of the class after payment of all debts that the remaining funds be distributed to the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College or its successor and secondarily to Dartmouth College.
After discussion it was voted: To adopt the revised class constitution as presented and to recommend its adoption at the next class meeting to be held at the 55th reunion.
Gordie Hood announced that the Alumni Fund contributions for the previous year totaled $184,000, with a goal of $175,000. Participation was 64.9 percent. The goal for the upcoming reunion year will be $400,000. Avote authorized that goal and 75 percent participation. The meeting expressed the class's appreciation to Gordie for serving an additional two years as head class agent. David Taylor, Webmaster, discussed the issue of publicizing e-mail addresses. Newc Eldridge reported on the class tree program. Jack Harned spoke about ongoing plans for the 55 th reunion. The last item of business was the passing of the gavel by Bud Gleason to Eric Miller, who will preside as president for the next two years. Eric expressed thanks on behalf of the class for a job well done. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
