A busy spring as ever. The Alumni Council meetings are always interesting and stimulating, but we are sad to see fewer familiar faces each year.
As usual President Wright sponsored the wind symphony's concert outdoors by the foot of Baker Library. A beautiful day, great music and delightful to watch little children caught up in the rhythm, dancing around the lawn.
The deans dinner for seniors was reactivated this year by Jim Wright, and due to the number of students, five dinners were held in the Webster dining room at the Hanover Inn. We were invited to them all as Rip was being honored. What a fine group of seniors we were honored to meet.
Graduation June 12 was a sweltering day, and we happily watched from our air-conditioned living room over the local TV. Lucky Dartmouth to have Tom Brokaw be graduation speaker! He left listeners with much to think about and emulate. Rip adds: Our new trustees with total ease Now know our system functions. We know they'll make good give and take And tell us their compunctions. When they come 'round and know the town And talk with Dartmouth students They'll know we need no code nor screed Just decency and prudence.
