Once more, our congratulations and thanks to Tom Adams and his many helpers for making 1946 reach our Alumni Fund goal. Final figures not in yet; I'll get them to you next letter. Don't forget our mini-reunion. It's October 20-22. Try to be there. A great BIG thanks to all who contributed to the Alumni Fund. If you have any money left, remember our bequest program. Our man for that is Ralph Smith (516-676-5420) and he's filling in the very large shoes of our late chair, Frank Ettari. Spoke to Ralph, who has a novel idea for his upcoming 80th birthday. He and four others have formed a "400 Club" and are having a big bash. You get it? Five times 80 equals 400—I'm having a "300 Club" but guess I'm too late. Jack Howard was thrilled to hear about Bob Stevenson's avocado orchard in California. Plans to visit Santa Barbara to see it. Bob, gave Jack your address and phone number—so be on guard. All out for guacamole! Jack still working on natural gas projects and still in Skaneateles, New York. Speaking of phone numbers, Rick Kelly called and left a number. Called it seven times, getting a message: "This is not the CVS Pharmacy." As you know, Ricks a big person in the theater business, but "CVS Pharmacy"? Must be a code of some sort. Got in touch with Dave Chalmers in Houston. Reduced to walking and tennis these days. Healthwise, fine. Speaking of tennis greats, talked to Col. Clark Judge. No more tennis but keeps in shape by walking for the paper in the a.m. and same for the mail in the p.m. I really think he could still play a fair game and to refresh your memory he was one of the College's great distance runners. Long talk with John Steele in Cincinnati, who is partially retired (means only works three or four hours a day). John was and is in the sand, gravel and concrete business. I wrote many years ago that he rode with the hounds in fox hunts. He says that's a thing of the past, which I suppose is a plus for the foxes. He's fine and passes on regards to all.
With sadness I must report the death of classmate retired Navy Cmdr. Ivor H. Jones. He died on April 15. Our sincere and deep sympathy goes to his family.
