Martin J. Slherwin '59, an English and American history professor at Tufts, has earned a Pulitzer for a biography he co-authored about the father of the A-bomb, American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J.Robert Oppenheimer (Alfred A. Knopf).
Lance,Tapley '66, a contributing writer for The Portland Phoenix, earned the best news story award from the Association of Alternative Weeklies for a two-part article that exposed torturous conditions in the Special Management Unit or "Supermax" inside the Maine State Prison.
Sam James '75, a research associate at Kansas University Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center, discovered in Brazil an earthworm species, Fimoscolex sporadochaetus, that had been declared extinct.
Ophthalmologists Bill Trattler '88, M.D., and Eric Donnenfeld '77, DMS'80, have been named to Cataract and RefractiveSurgery Todays list of Top 50 Opinion Leaders 2006. Trattler is based in Miami, Florida, and Donnenfeld is based in Rockville Centre, New York.
Shannon Agner '02, Th'04, a former Dartmouth women's soccer captain who led her team to three Ivy titles, has been inducted into the South Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame. She plans to begin med school this fall
