Howdy Pierpont and Dottie had dinner in Hanover with Art Allen, his new bride, Eve Filbin, and Don Marcus and son Don, visiting from London, where he is a play producer (as well as in New York). I called Bill Allyn in Naples to congratulate him on his Presidential Medal of Honor from the Illinois College of Optometry. Bill was having 24/7 care but could see a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel. Jim Miller phoned to say he will resend a January letter, which had the right address but was returned. He and Harriet moved from their Hilton Head home to a retirement facility there. My new pen pal Ruth (Mrs. John Lee) Potter wrote that he had a close relationship with his uncle, Dr. Wesley Potter, a close friend and colleague of my father's at what is now Boston University's hospital. Dr. Lee was a dermatologist whom I visited in college about my growing hair loss. Obviously, he failed. The Potters' son, David, has won reelection here as a Monterey County supervisor. He is also on the California Coastal Commission and is well regarded by many. Sadly we have lost Fred Leyser, Lawrence Lerer, Sheldon Reed and Dick Clarke's widow, june.
