Greetings! Thanks to the alumni office I have news to pass along. For those of you who assume that what you are up to is of no interest to anyone, guess again. You'd be surprised at who would be interested, so pass whatever news you have along and I'll get it out there.

First news comes from Portland, Oregon, where Grubb & Ellis was kind enough to announce that Brad Fletcher has been named Commercial Association of Realtors Broker of the Year. The Broker of the Year honors are given to professionals who stand out among their peers in recognition of the highest production in the Portland metropolitan area. This is the fifth year that Fletcher has been recognized by CAR as the regions leading industrial broker. "Brad represents the standard of excellence and commitment to customer service Grubb & Ellis professionals strive to attain in the commercial real estate industry," said Robert H. Osbrink, Grubb & Ellis president of transaction services.

Fletcher received the SIOR Transaction of the Year Award for completing the complicated building and land sale of the IBM campus in Beaverton to Wells Real Estate Investment Trust for $38.2 million. This was the largest office/land sale in the Portland. Congratulations, Brad.

Congratulations also to John A. Tarantino, of Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C., of Providence, Rhode Island. John was recently inducted as a fellow into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Noted as the most exclusive trial lawyer group in the world, the academy is limited to only 500 fellows from the United States. In addition, there are 100 fellows from more than 30 countries throughout the world. Members of the academy are engaged in civil and criminal trial practice from both the plaintiffs and the defendant's side of the counsel table. John is a partner and president of Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C., having started his career at the firm as a summer clerk 25 years ago. He has served as counsel in a number of highprofile cases, including the landmark lead paint litigation case in Rhode Island. He has successfully represented Fortune 100 and 500 companies both nationally and internationally.

BBN Technologies announced on June 3 that it has "built the worlds first quantum cryptography network and is now operating it continuously beneath the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Today the DARPA Quantum Network links BBN's campus to Harvard University; soon it will stretch across town to include Boston University as a third link. The Harvard University applied physics department and the Boston University Photonics Center have worked in close collaboration with BBN to build the network under Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency sponsorship." Chip Elliot is one of the principal scientists at BBN.

From north of the border comes news of Chris Hodgson. On June 4 the National Post ran a rather newsy familial article about Chris, who is now senior managing director of Scotiabank's wealth management division. Prior to this appointment Chris had been chief executive of Altamira Financial Services Ltd. The article reads as a running commentary of the golf match between Chris and the writer, ending with Chris'vital statistics, including his golf handicap. Hope you took him for a couple of bucks, Hoggy.

News comes from Peter C. Williams who is secretary of the Dartmouth Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alumni/ae Association that they are holding their second annual all class reunion in Hanover the weekend of October 1-3, 2004. Details of the weekend can be found at DGALAs Web site, www.alum.dartmouth.org/ affiliated/dgala.

I'd say to keep those cards and letters coming, but if it weren't for the alumni office, I'd be dry. "Have an idea, folks," to quote a great left-handed Harvard alum. Send me something to work with. Best to all.
