Captain Charles "Chip" Swicker, USN, has finished his tour as director of the Command at Sea Department (surface warfare), at Newport, Rhode Island, and has taken command of the Aegis missile cruiser USS Vicksburg(CG 69) currently deployed in the Middle East. Chip is a son of Dick "Rit" Swicker '52.
After 25 years of wholesaling, Jeff McKee retired from Lord, Abbett & Cos at the end of last year. His mutual fund/investment firm grew from $3 billion in 1980 to $102 billion in 2005. Now he is off pursuing a new career at Foundation Source. This new company markets turnkey private family foundations with no interest in managinh the money. According to Jeff "It is exciting to not only help families establish legacies but also formalize their charitable giving." Currendy Foundation Source administers 425 foundations totaling $1.3 billion in assets.
In the March 28 issue of The New York Times it was announced that Maxwell L. Anderson, former director of theWhitney Museum of American Art, was named the director and chief executive officer of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He is to take over in mid-June. It is the fifth largest U.S. art museum and has an encyclopedia of 50,000 objects. Max reports, "With over 150 acres of grounds, I will be rolling up my sleeves donning a John Deere cap soon. With a baby girl on the way in May, Jacqueline and I and our 10-year-old son Chase have a lively summer ahead." Maxwell, who directed the Whitney from 1998 to 2003, is a principal at AEA Consulting of New York and London, a research affiliate at the Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies at Princeton University and an op-ed columnist on world art trends for The Art Newspaper. Maxwell began his career at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1981 and has previously directed the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University in Atlanta.
