Jim and Sue Aiken visited Nancy and me here in Spofford, New Hampshire, last month. They had attended the meeting of the Alumni Council in Hanover where their daughter Kate '92 was awarded the Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award. We had a delightful time catching up on matters old and new. In addition to his work as CEO of the Keystone Symposia, Jim has found time to keep up his artwork, which can be viewed at www.jimaiken.com.
Jim Ramsey is running for chancellor and judge in the Seventh Judicial District in Tennessee. For more information see his Web site at www.jimramseyforchancellor.com/index.html.
Bob Koury reports that he is "winding down a career in subdivision home building and moving to a small custom home building hobby." He and his wife, Danielle, are living in a quiet area of northern Virginia. They spend time most months in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas, trying to keep a couple of boats operating. Bob never realized how important a career in diesel mechanics would be. Danielle is a former travel agency owner so they have been doing a couple of big trips a year (Peru, Jamaica, Africa, France, Italy, etc.). 'All in all, life is real, real good. I am a fortunate guy."
Steve Waterhouse writes: "Today I was honored to present one of the 100 limited edition, hardbound copies of my book Dartmouth's Dedicated Alumni to Valerie Mitchell, the director general of the English Speaking Union, the largest private organization promoting the use of the English language throughout the world. They have chapters in 52 countries, and HRH Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, is the president of the organization. The tie-in is Dartmouth House, home to the English Speaking Union since 1926 and named for the family of the earl of Dartmouth."
Sadly, I received word of the death of Thomas William Mitchell on April 20. He died at his home in Shrewsbury, Vermont, after a 13-month battle with myelogenous leukemia. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Ann Vanneman, and his children Christopher and Andrew Mitchell and Amanda Pagan.
