Our 35th reunion was a great success, with more than 90 classmates and guests, for a total of more than 145 attendees, gathering in Hanover from June 12 through June 15. Even though it was our first mid-week reunion, the turnout was exceptional and all that attended enjoyed the summer-like weather in Hanover (including humidity and thunderstorms!). There were enough activities (including lectures, golf, canoeing on the Connecticut River, tennis, etc.) to keep everyone busy, and for those who simply wanted to relax by strolling through Hanover and its environs, there was more than enough time. Jerry O'Brien and I even found time during a lazy afternoon to read a book in Sanborn Library (and catch a quick nap as well). Since our class columns provide only limited space, most of the reunion, reports and pictures will be found on our class Web site—www.dartmouth.edu/classes/71. I urge you to visit the site for some great pictures.
Best of luck to our new class officers: Greg Fell, president; Dick Wooster, vice president; Bob Moore, secretary/newsletter editor; Dave Brooks, treasurer; Pete Webster, Alumni Council representative; Wayne Hobin and Mike Maynard, head agents; and Mickey Stewart, class projects chairman. Best wishes to all as they guide us through the next five years. In regard to class projects, our class has undertaken a project that relates to the Hovey Grill murals, which, as many of you may know, have been covered for years.
Received a card from Bruce Hathaway, who reports that he recently moved to Reading, Pennsylvania, and is working as manager of compensation at Penske. His son David and wife had twin boys in the spring and his daughter Erica had a daughter last October, so they are "awash in grandchildren."
On a sad note, recently I received an alumni death notice reporting the death of James Pendleton Jr., M.D., in February. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and children Kimya, Jini and James.
Finally, on a happier note, our daughter, Christina Marie, a 2000 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, was married on April 15 (an expensive day for us!) to Brian Beadle at Manhattanville College Chapel in Purchase, New York. Robert "Auggie" Augello and wife Joan and Mike Hannigan and wife Betty Jo joined my wife, Denise, and mw for the festivities at the Hyatt Regency, Greenwich, Connecticut. Our daughter Julie Anne served as her sisters maid of honor.
Best of luck to new class secretary/newsletter editor Bob Moore, who will be taking over the class columns in the future. You can e-mail Bob directly with your news at ski1moore@aol.com or send information to the class Web site address above.
