Crosbie MacMillen had agreed to write the column for this issue. Her untimely death in a motorcar accident on October 10 while returning home from her cottage in Maine was a terrible shock and great loss forus all. Crosbie has been of enormous help to the class officers in recent years in connection with the reunions and mini-reunions and other class activities. She and her husband, Bob MacMillen, prior to his death were both towers of strength for many years to the class. All of us will remember them fondly.
We also note with regret the passing of the following class members in 2006: July 30, Roger Thiele; August 20, Robert M. Perry; September 7; Morris S. Harwood; and October 17, Stetson Whitcher. They leave a void in our class and will be remembered.
Stet contributed to the Class Notes in the July/August 2006 issue of this magazine. His many years of service to Dartmouth and to the class of 1940 have earned him a special place in our hearts.
