I hope by now you have signed up for our 65th reunion bash September 28 and 29.The College is putting us all up at the Hanover Inn and picking up the cost of room, food and wine for the two days. Also consider the pre-reunion get-together planned for the three prior days at Quechee Vermont, across the river.

A note from Dr. Andrew Morgan in Kamuela, Hawaii. He writes concerning the wonderful DAM article last year about Dartmouth teachers who went to the Majino and other Marshall Islands. Andy says he was asked by the government to go to Majino 20 years ago to treat children with congenital defects and spent many hours in surgery correcting them. All these children's mothers were exposed to the radiation on Bikini from the U.S. Navy's atomic tests, "and to this day the radiation still exists and will be a danger for many years to come," Andy says.

Here are excerpts from a letter Howie Leavitt, class of 1943 newsletter editor, wrote to his parents in 1940 following the 5th down episode in our football game with Cornell that year: "Some time in the first half Coach Blaik put Ted Arico into the game, our 150-pound back who is 5 feet, 5 inches, against Cornell players who in most cases weighed over 200 pounds, and five of them were over 6 feet, 3 inches. You should have seen Arico go on the first play. He ran the ball thru the line, when suddenly a big All-American dove for him. Ted hit him and the Cornell man seemed to fly up in the air and land on his back. Meanwhile Ted ran for additional yards. He is the fastest, toughest football player of his size that Dartmouth has ever seen."

Our condolences to Bob Buckalew and Family on the death of Bobs wife, Patricia. They were married 64 years.
