At our age, when time seems to be accelerating at a rapid rate, it can't be soon enough to make plans for our 60th reunion June 9-11,2008. Let me tell the reasons. The time period chosen is the best of all: after Commencement and clear of the fuss that surrounds it. There will be an opportunity to enjoy the old songs from the Upper Valley Chorus and Alumni Glee Club at Spaulding. We should have access to the Hanover Inn for those who enjoy that atmosphere and its convenience to most reunion activities, to mention just a few reasons.

John Hatheway and Bud Gedney are two of our most experienced planners and they are co-chairing the event. It helps that they are both Hanoverarea residents who have ready access to parkhurst to mold the very best of programs. Give a rouse, too, to Russ Carlson, who approached the executive committee for permission to raise extra money to enhance the reunion planning and program. He has raised $6,000 to date and could use more. Checks to Dartmouth 1948 SRF (special reunion fund). Let me know if you need his address.

In spite of the fact that 80 is the new 60, odds are that this may be the last reunion when many of us are physically and mentally able to actively participate. While travel is not as easy as it used to be, with a little organization we should be able to do more carpooling and airport pickups to ease the pain. I never tire of the opportunity to revisit the place where I spent so many good days and, aside from the traffic, it has only improved. Come see for yourself. Be sure to consult Dick Dahl's newsletter for the details as we get closer to what is only a year ahead and put it on your 2008 calendar now.
