Paul Coakley and his family are "settling back stateside after two really interesting, busy and fun years in Hong Kong." Paul is now in his 13 th year at Wellington Management, based in Boston. His daughter Kaitlyn Alice was born in Hong Kong last July, joining siblings Billy, 5, and Mary Lou, 4. The family now lives in Winchester Massachusetts.
Jennifer Hageman Graves and her husband, Mike, welcomed twin boys Sawyer and Wyatt in December. Luckily, there are plenty of helping hands in the family, since the babies have an older sister and three older brothers who are homeschooled and her husband works at home. Paul Sawyer graduated from Harvard Divinity School last spring and was ordained to the Unitarian Universalist Ministry at the First Parish Church in Concord, Massachusetts. He wrote with news of his return to the Upper Valley, where he is now the minister of the 204-year-old First Universalist Society in Hartland Four Corners, Vermont. His daughter Emma is in kindergarten and his wife, Katy works as an occupational therapist at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor. Paul and katy also continue to co-direct, along with Dr. Kevin Kerin '81, a summer camp for children with arthritis in Fairlee, Vermont.
Jill Greenfield O'Brien moved to New Jersey from Connecticut last year with her three sons and husband. They live in Lebanon Township, about an hour west of New York City. She says it's a small rural town with lots of horse farms and many cows and reminds her of New Hampshire. She keeps up with fellow NJ-ites Dawn Green MacLaren and Catherine Baggia who both live in Princeton.
David Spindler wrote from Beijing, where he's researching the history of the Great Wall and speaking about the subject to travel, corporate and study-abroad groups.
Jennifer Block Cromheecke started a master's program in law this past year to build her skills in the advocacy arena for kids and parents. Her academic adventure follows a summer of travel adventure to Poland for a wedding, to Martha's Vineyard for a visit with Martha Boss Bennett and to the Berkshires with children 7, and Anna, 5. Jenn and Todd Cromheecke still live just outside Chicago, and Todd says that even Jenn now loves the Midwest.
Erik Murphy and his wife, Nanci, live in Seattle with their three daughters Cassidy, 6, Ryan, 4, and Mackenzie, who was born last summer. Erik works with his brother and parents at the family business, placing IT consultants in temporary jobs.
Matt Garber writes from South Carolina, where he is now associate professor of clinical pediatrics and director of inpatient pediatrics at Greenville Memorial Hospital—associated with the University of South Carolina. Matt also reports that Chris Herron recently moved to south Florida for a job with Florida Power and Light.
John Van Hooser and his wife, Tracey are adjusting to the suburbs after 10 years in San Francisco. They moved north to Marin last summer. In July they welcomed their third child, Katherine Xin-Mei, who joins big brothers Jack and Scott.
Finally, Jeff Kaufman is an orthopedic surgeon in Sacramento, California, living with his wife, Uschi. and their dog Maggie. They spend most of their free time near Lake Tahoe in the town of Truckee where they have a ski Condo. They completed the Donner Lake triathlon in July and Jeff was planning to participate in another triathlon in Santa Cruz last September. He says they always have a spare room and a warm fire for any '89 friends who want to ski at the Squaw Valley or Northstar resorts or in the Backcountry
