Stan Berenson returned a call I made to him. It was good to hear his voice, which, as always, expressed his ever lasting love for Dartmouth classmates and connections.

While I reflect on what a great job Marlene Putnam (widow of Hal Putnam) did organizing our last mini-reunion, I find she is still "painting up a storm," teaching painting and volunteering at the local hospital. Her latest love is a little dog, her first in 55 years. Her new address: P.O. Box 643821, Vero Beach, FL 32964.

Our local Valley News carried an obit of Jack (Jason) Newton. He died June 3, after a long illness. "He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed history. He also enjoyed his Dartmouth College alumni events."

Recent thoughts from an appreciative, onetime class scholar, Lynn Tracy Nerland '86: "As an undergraduate I was thrilled to receive a scholarship from the class of 1937. I was a little nervous when subsequently asked to meet with class members at a minireunion. My perceptions about the older all male classes at Dartmouth came mostly from the media and three alums who interviewed me. I remain amazed that I was even admitted given that one alumnus told me during my interview that educating a woman was a waste and I wanted to go to Dartmouth only to find a husband. (Ironically, I did find my husband at Dartmouth, as well as an education and career.)"

I would appreciate your news and/or memories.
