In my last column I mentional that Brook Maese and his wife, Patrice, have been married 35 years. I asked if anyone else could match or beat that wonderful accomplishment.

Scott Lewellen wrote back that he and his wife, Brenda, also high school sweet hearts, have been married for 35 years as well. As it turns out both couples were married on the same day, August 25,1973. It's a tie! Brenda had already graduated from college with a degree in medical technology. She came back to Hanover and worked at Mary Hitchcock during Scott's senior year. Scott and Brenda now live in Bemus Point, New York. Brenda works at WCA Hospital in Jamestown and Scott has just begun his 29th year of teaching at his old high school. Scott created his own special major at Dartmouth, environmental education, which was a combination of earth science, environmental studies and education. He went into teaching directly af- ter graduation and has also coached baseball, basketball, football and volleyball. Scott and Brenda have three children. Their twin sons are college sophomores, Beck at Miami University in Ohio and Todd at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. Their daughter Carrie (Grove City College '99) and her husband, Matt, provided a granddaughter who started kindergarten this fall.

Scott reported that he is in touch regularly with Paul Mesches, his freshman year roommate from Hinman Hall and TriKap brother. Paul lives in Westfield, New Jersey, with his wife, Amy, and works in advertising in Manhattan. Scott also stays in touch with Bob Varsha '73 who lives in Atlanta with his wife, Karen, and works for the Speed Channel.
