Lots of news this time, especially in the baby department. I'll get right to it!
Kellie Cummings Kelm sent in an update on a number of classmates. She and her husband, Robert, welcomed their son Carson this past May. Ranzy joined Howie Rumjahn and his wife, Tina, in November 2007. In March 2007 Judy (Hall) Walker and her husband, Kwame, announced the arrival of their son Noah. And Tim Rodenberger and his wife, Diana, welcomed their daughter Julia in April 2006.
Elise Kjestine joined our newsletter editor Kaja Fickes and her husband, Dan, promptly on her February 20 due date (which was also a lunar eclipse). She was 9 pounds, 6 ounces at birth and measured almost 23 inches. Kaja is working part-time at WGBH public TV in Boston as a senior major gifts officer and is still singing when she can find the time for gigs. Kaja also passed along that Carol (Gilchrist) Mclver and her husband, Paul, are expecting a baby boy in August.
We're not done yet! Dan Glazer and his wife, Michele Higgins, were delighted to welcome Molly Christine on August 16. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces at birth and measured 19 3/4 inches. Just to keep it in the Big Green family, the doctor who delivered Molly was Laura Zimmerman '94. Michele, Dan and Molly live in West field, New Jersey.
Liz Lynn Albert reported that she and her husband, Marc, have children Heath and Cass. Liz also sent in the news that Jake Hooker received a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting this spring! Jake writes for The New York Times and received the award for "Toxic Pipeline," an investigative series that explored how toxic ingredients from the Chinese countryside were packaged and sold around the world. Jake currently lives in China, and he also won a Gerald Loeb Award (one of the highest honors in business journalism), for the series.
In another non-baby update, David Gonzalez received the 2008 Austin Young Lawyers Association Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. David represents clients accused of serious felonies and misdemeanors at the trial level in state, federal and juvenile court. In addition he lobbied for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association during the most recent state legislative session and will do so again in the upcoming session.
Please keep the news coming!
