This news all poured in during happy months; I remember getting the e-mails with these announcements right after an ocean swim or in the airport while hopping around the country on jaunts to make the most of July as a teacher. On one of those trips I got to eat tapas in San Francisco with Kate (Knowles) and Matt Frankel, Emily (Quetone) and Shuja Khan and Emily Fedman. Emily and Shuja were about to leave for a trip to Australia when I saw them. Maybe calling them out like this will make them write in with an update about it...hint, hint. As I compile the news for this column fifth-graders are chanting times tables in the background, eighth-graders are finding ever new ways to express their angst and summer is officially over. If it weren't for the prospect of pumpkin spice flavors in the very near future and the fact that I dorkily still love the beginning of the school year, I think I might be glum. I hope that '02s all over the place had fantastic summers—and by the time you read this, great early falls too.
Karin (Batalden) Gray reports: "I'm bliss fully happy, just married on April 19 to Jonathan Gray, the best man in the whole world. Rabia (Abbasi) Gale, Anna (Linzee) and Rich MacDonald, Talia (Miranda) deChaisemartin and Danielle Fritze made it out to our wedding. Although we're currently together in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I'm doing my pediatrics residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, he just completed his Ph.D. in history from Stanford University and we're going to have a kind of tough commuting year next year as he has taken a job as assistant professor of church history at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, and I have one more year of residency here."
Julie Clark wrote in with news of another '02 wedding. Sarah Gregg married William Orum (Amherst '02) on June 7 in Rye Beach, New Hampshire, with a huge group of Dart- mouth alums on hand to celebrate them. Julie was in the wedding party, along with Kerith Davies, Amanda Meigher, Jackie Fuld '03, Joshua Gregg '06 and Molly Gregg '00, who was the maid of honor.
With even more happy wedding news, Heidi (Eilenbecker) Trimarco wrote in: "Christine Walker married Matt Lyons on July 11 in Brooklyn, New York. Christine and Matt met while teaching at the same school in New York City and both are still dedicated teachers in the city's public school system. Their reception was a blast, with many '02s in attendance and plenty of Enrique songs dedicated to the Dartmouth alums. After a honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta the couple returned to Brooklyn to enjoy the rest of their summer vacation at the Breezy Point Surf Club."
Finally, last night at Tori Miners birthday celebration I got to catch up with Erika Clementi, Scott Shechtman, Ali Kelly and Katie Escherich. All were well—nothing wrong with hoping that inclusion in this minor way in the column will inspire them to write in with more thorough updates for you all! 'Til next time.
