Well, news seems to be hard to come by these days—despite my e-mailing efforts I had nothing to submit for the last deadline and this month is short as well. So, you are stuck with some news from me: Last October my husband and I were thrilled at the birth of our daughter Brehlie. Our son Asher is now 17 months old and we still can't believe that just a year ago we had no children (all it took was a surprising pregnancy result one month and a call from our adoption agency the next month to change our world exponentially overnight). I'm still working part-time as an instructional coach for all K-12 math teachers in my school district and my husband is still a firefighter for the city of Edmonds, Washington. We're all busy (anyone else out there with kids just over a year apart?) but we're also curious what our classmates are up to. If you haven't sent in news in awhile, just take a few minutes and shoot me an e-mail.

It wouldn't be a column without some news from New York City: Living in the West Village of Manhattan, Kevan Jackson and his wife, Karla, welcomed their son Luke, also born last October. Luke joins his big sister Dylan, age 3. Kevan has been in contact with Perla Delson, whose daughters attend the same gymnastics training facility. Other Tabardites Kevan stays in touch with include Jon Hunt, Brad Auer and Kit Wilson '89."

Then from Staunton, Virginia, a small town in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, Sherri (Burkholder) Fosdick writes: "My family moved here about eight years ago from northern Virginia. While much of my time is spent homeschooling my two boys Matthew (10) and Thomas (8), I also put in some part-time hours as an independent contractor for CARMA International, a media research and consulting firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. My husband, Geoffrey, is a federal attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Through the wonders of modem technology we both are able to telecommute almost exclusively, which allows great flexibility but, with home-schooling, makes for a full and sometimes chaotic house! I suppose my biggest claim to fame (if you can call it that) was setting an Amateur Athletic Union power-lifting record in 2003 for my age and weight class. I no longer compete but I continue to lift when I can and also enjoy pick-up basketball, snowboarding, horseback riding and singing in my church choir. I trade Dartmouth memories with Melanie (Doyle) Luhn '85, who also lives here in Staunton with her husband and two daughters."

On the international front, a recent press release sent word that Michael Silberling was appointed chief operating officer for London Clubs International, in which he will lead operations in the United Kingdom, Egypt and South Africa. This post comes after managing casinos in Australia and New Zealand.
