To paraphrase Jackson Browne, this is my opening farewell. I have enjoyed my tenure as class secretary, but as others have said, it is time for change. Dave Hov will be writing the column beginning in September. I look forward to reading it!
Steve Mandel and Jeff Immelt hosted an evening in support of the Class of 78 Life Sciences Center. As you might imagine, our class turned out in force, with approximately 40 of us there. The event was held on the set of Saturday Night Live, which may have had a little to do with the crowd!
I visited briefly with Walter Callendar, who lives with his family in Providence, Rhode Island, where he sees Scott Axford, Dusty McQueen and Linda Valentini, among others. Walters firm is still based in New York City, so he spends time there as well.
I chatted with Sally Eastman (who just had a baby girl to join three brothers!), Steve Ceurvorst, David Hodgson (does anyone else still think of him as little Hodgie?) and many others. Heather Mayfield Kelly, Lissa Howell MacCallum and I had dinner afterward.
Barbara Dau Southwell hosted a brunch for greater Boston area '78 women. We were all reminded of how much we enjoy spending time with intelligent, intellectually curious women. It was especially nice for me, having recently moved back to Boston after an absence of 28 years (but who's counting). In attendance were Chris Hughes, Barbie Snyder Martinez, Catherine Colligan Yates, Nancy Mayer Freedman, Valerie Cummings, Judy Osher, Helen Lukash, Harriet Schwartz, Debbie Lipson Feldman and Darcy Domoracki Cardarelli.
Thank you for your notes and letters through the years. Please send news to Dave at davidhov@comcast.net.
