To resolve the last column's cliffhanger...earlier this year Kenji Sugahara was appointed executive director of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association, the official sanctioning body for bicycle racing in Oregon. Kenji was previously the organization's assistant director and is the former chair of the Oregon Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. (Did you know that Oregon has the highest number of racers per capita in the United States and is second only to California in the number of cycling events?) In his spare time Kenji enjoys maintaining his blog, Racing with K-Man ( www.obra3.com ), about racing in the Northwest.
In a bit of personal news, my husband, Darren Mareiniss '94, and I recently celebrated the birth our first child. Martin Avner Mareiniss was born on June 4 and is contentedly sleeping in my lap as I write this column. Darren and I are delighted to have Marty in our lives and look forward to introducing him to all of his future classmates at the next reunion.
