Your secretary is happy as a clam this time around and will filter her typical introductory babble, as '02 news abounds. Let's jump in with the baby news first. Nicole Campbell and her boyfriend Winston Daley welcomed Zahria Soule Daley into the world on February 22 in Phoenix, Arizona. She weighed in at 4 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 16 inches long. Nicole reports, "I developed a heart condition and Zahria had to come six weeks early, but she is a happy and healthy (and sleeping!) 4-month-old. I m back to work as a corporate associate at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey and so far our second Phoenix summer is going very well." Lonnie Threatte, never one to be bound by traditional structures or timelines, updated me a bit earlier in the process: "I procreated. His name is Langston Threatte and his due date is somewhere around August 6. If everything goes as planned my little heir will grow up to become a world class athlete, call me Dad not Daddy, never ask to borrow my car, go to Dartmouth, give good Christmas gifts, be forever grateful to his father for painting his nursery and pay off his parents' student loan debt. But if he's anything like his father, he'll probably just have a really large head and cry a lot." Congratulations to all!
I hear that congratulations of another sort are in order for Alex Rolfe and Lauren Wilson, who got married at the end of June in San Francisco, celebrated by a whole host of'02s, including Mike Lee, Jon Altman, Jacob Wood, John Welborn and Andy Fishman.
Stevie Nichols wrote in with impressive news. Dartmouth Native American Alumni Association of Dartmouth alumni swept the May election of the new executive board of directors of the National Native American Law Students Association (NNALSA). The new board includes Stevie, Ryan Howard '01, Josh Clause 'O5 and Elizabeth Saagulik Hensley '05, who follow the legacy of many other NAAADs, including NNALSA president for 2006-07, Daron Carreiro.
In May Nicole Greninger was ordained as a rabbi at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion ordination service at Congregation Emanu-El in New York by fellow alumna Rabbi Shirley Idelson '85. Nicole was also awarded a master of arts in religious education and was hired as director of education at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette, California.
Elizabeth Baldwin graduated in May with an M.B.A. from Wharton. She reports: "I learned a ton over the last two years and met some amazing people but I am not sad that it's over—both because it's great that I can finally put those three letters on my resume and also because I now get my life and weekends back!" Well deserved, Liz. Continuing with business school news, Rebecca Weeks is relocating to Boston over the summer so that her husband, Christian Weeks '05, can start at Harvard Business School. Also in Boston, Molly Miranda will be attending MIT Sloan in the fall for her M.B.A.
Emily Wood graduated from New York Medical College in May. I got to attend the ceremony at Carnegie Hall on May 21 along with her family, in from Wyoming, and Kate Murphy. Woody then traveled to Greece and Turkey for a little R&R and adventure before her residency in general surgery at Stony Brook University.
Finally, Kate Siber wrote after climbing 5,000 vertical feet over steep icy slopes with crampons and ice axes to the summit of Mt. Shasta for the Big City Mountaineers benefit climb. She reports that she saw Eric Smillie, Matt Jones and Kate Frankel while in California for the climb.
Keep it coming, folks. Happy summer.
