WORLD SERIOUS
Author Harvey Frommer, who teaches "Oral History in Theory and Practice" with his wife, Myrna, in the master of arts in liberal studies department, is working on his 41st sports book, Remembering Fenway Park. If you've got any great Fenway stories, he's all ears. Meanwhile, DAM recently went a quick nine innings with Dartmouth's own Mr. Baseball, who offered his take on some of the more important elements of the game:
I. Favorite Player: Jackie Robinson.
2. Best Red Sox Player: Ted Williams.
3. Best Yankees-Red Sox Game: If you were a Yankees fan, it's the 1978 playoff game, when Bucky Dent hit the pop fly homer.
4. Best Yankees Team: 1927, Murderer's Row. My book Five O'ClockLightning details it all.
5. Favorite Ball Park: Fenway.
6, Should Pete Rose Be In the Hall of Fame: No!
7. Best Player of Today: Albert Pujols.
8. Earliest Baseball Memory: Growing up in Brooklyn, I met Jackie Robinson one day. "Hi Jackie, I'm one of your biggest fans," I said selfconsciously. "Do you think the Dodgers are going to win the pennant this year?" His handsome face looked sternly down at me. "We'll try our best," he said. "Good luck," I said. "Thanks," he replied. I was a nervy kid, but I didn't ask for an autograph or try to prolong the conversation. I just watched as he walked away down the street.
9. Who'll Win the 2008 World Series: BoSox.
