ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORS

Dick Friedman ’63 was awarded two Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, which represents the premier interior design competition in the hospitality industry. Friedman is the owner of the Liberty Hotel in Boston.

Ford von Reyn ’67, a professor at Dartmouth Medical School, led a team of scientists at DMS and in Tanzania in successfully completing clinical trials of a new tuberculosis vaccine for HIV-infected patients. Von Reyn’s team presented its findings at the World Conference on Lung Health.

Michelle Stacy ’77 has been appointed president of the coffee machine manufacturing company Keurig, a subsidiary of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury, Vermont. Previously she served as vice president and general manager of global professional oral care at Procter & Gamble.

Nick Lowery ’78, a former Kansas City Chiefs kicker, will be the 2009 inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. Lowery is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 1,466 points.

J. Patrick Rowan ’86 has been confirmed by the Senate as an assistant attorney general in charge of the U.S. Department of Justice’s national security division. He previously was the division’s principal deputy assistant attorney general, responsible for supervising prosecutors in the counterterrorism and counterespionage sections.

Tim Kelley ’79 has earned the Mountaineering Club of Alaska’s Hoeman Award for making 91 first ascents of remote peaks in the Western Chugach, Talkeetna and Kenai mountains.

Betsy Hildebrandt ’86 has been named director of communications for the U.S. Department of the Interior. Most recently Hildebrandt served as senior manager for technology marketing and communication at management consulting firm Accenture.

Jeffrey Singdahlsen ’88 has been named the associate general counsel for legal policy for the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has served in a variety of positions with the Department of Justice, most recently in the criminal division.

David (Wtorkowski) Stone ’91 is the new vice president for development of Buena Vista Productions, responsible for creating talk, game and reality programs for ABC-Disney networks. The Los Angeles resident formerly developed the series Joe Millionaire and Trading Spouses for Rocket Science Laboratories.

Todd Millay ’92 made the Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list for emerging business leaders. As managing director of Choate Investment Advisors, Millay oversees $2.5 billion in assets for high-net-worth investors.

Lily Liu ’97 is the new chief financial officer of Beijing-based ChinaEDU Corp., an online provider of educational services in China. Previously Liu served as CFO of MainOne Inc., which provides Internet solutions to small Chinese enterprises.

Collin O’Mara ’01 has been appointed the Delaware secretary of natural resources and environmental control. O’Mara, most recently the chief clean strategist for the City of San Jose, California, will focus on environmental protection, land conservation, outdoor recreation, and energy and climate
