Finally summer has arrived. With warmer and longer days, we’re reminded just how special this season is. At the College much is happening with Jim Wright’s retirement, an incredible new president in his stead, and an admissions season that saw the largest applicant pool in Dartmouth’s history. Economic issues still surround every college and university, but Dartmouth has adjusted quickly and is poised to weather the storm as well as anyone.
Lon Cross is hard at work on our 35th reunion in June of 2010 and has assembled a team of ready volunteers for the task. Please get in touch with him if you’re interested in helping out. I’m sure there’s a free drink in it for the volunteers.
Kel Seliger wrote the following update (to keep me from making stuff up about him): “As I have been for the last 33 years, I am in the steel service center business in Amarillo, Texas, and in November was re-elected to the Texas Senate and am the vice chairman of two committees, criminal justice and international relations and trade.”
Kel is focused on water conservation and correctional issues, two critical issues that face the state and our country. Kel reports that all is well with his sons Jonathan and Matthew and Nancy, his wife. And who knows, if the governor makes good on his threat about secession and Texas secedes from the United States, Kel could be its first ambassador. In any event he’s been doing great work for the people of Texas for a long time and we’re very proud of him.
Well that’s all the news that’s fit to print. E-mail me with updates. Enjoy the summer and hope to see many of you at the reunion in 2010, if not sooner.
