The early months of 2010 have been full of activity with several clubs having exciting events. The Dartmouth Club of Thailand hosted a supper buffet on April 4 at the home of club president David Karukin '48, where the club welcomed four students from the Thayer School. The students, all from the class of 2011, are taking engineering courses at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok on an exchange semester. One of the students, Matthew Dahlhausen 'II, has compiled a remarkable blog about his adventures that is available to view at http://mattinthailand.wordpress.com. The pictures capture some beautiful sights and Matt covers everything from his courses to food and biking through Warorot Market in Chiang Mai to snorkeling in the Surin Islands.

The Dartmouth Club of Saint Louis had a record turnout for its holiday lunch at the Old Warson Country Club and welcomed its guest speaker Kevin Demoff '99, current executive vice president of football operations/chief operating officer for the Saint Louis Rams of the National Football League. This was a thrilling event that brought in over 50 alumni, students and friends. Demoff spoke about his responsibilities with the Rams and the challenges they were facing midway through the season. Club president Ken Bower '94 pointed out that, "With all of his experience in professional football, Kevin brings a dynamic and youthful spirit to the Rams. He was a breath of fresh air in an organization which needed many changes, both on and off the field." The club also had a decade-high number of admitted students to the class of 2014, which Bower attributes to the hard work of many of the members including Bill Hizar '86, Kevin Fleming '95 and Andrew Eastman '07.

The Dartmouth Club of Washington, D.C., welcomed President Jim Yong Kim in March ro the Omni Shoreham Hotel. About 400 members attended the event and it had the highest number of registrations of any event in club history. While visiting Washington, D.C., President Kim was interviewed by The WashingtonPost for an article and also filmed a video for its "On Leadership" series. You can view the video at www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2010/03/31/VI2010033100606.html. The "Coffee with Dartmouth President Kim" article can be read at http://voices.washingtonpost.com/college.inc/2010/03/coffee_with_dartmouth_presiden.html. Another notable event for this club was the Fisher House dinner at Walter Reed Army Hospital on March 29. This is an internally rewarding event for club members as they bring dinner to injured veterans and their families. This is a new partnership for the Dartmouth Club of Washington, D.C., that was started last year in honor of President Wrights work with veterans. The vice president of communications at the Fisher House, Jim Weiskopf '66, assisted in making the partnership possible.

The Dartmouth Club of the Midwest held an alumni trustee candidate Event on March 9 and welcomed John Replogle '88, Joe Asch '79 and Mort Kondracke '60 to the Minneapolis club. Club president Steven Faber '82 served as the moderator and asked the candidates preapproved questions. Additionally, there was time for questions from the audience, which made the event interactive and gave it a personal touch. This event drew more than 80 alumni and all enjoyed the opportunity to see and visit with all three candidates. The candidates also had the chance to see some of their former classmates. Faber commented, "We had a wide variety of classes in attendance, starting with Fred Gamble '50 and including three from the class of '09: Marley McMillan, Amy Spicer and Bill Lundin. This type of event would be highly recommended for future elections!"
