The spring is such an exciting time of year as students are admitted to Dartmouth and the class of 2015 starts to take form. Dartmouth has offered admission to 2,178 students from a pool of 22,385 applicants (9.7-percent admit rate). Admitted students represent 49 states and 54 countries. The class of 2015 is sure to be an amazing group. Alumni clubs around the globe go from interviewing and evaluating applicants to persuading the admitted students to choose Dartmouth. The alumni gather to tell stories that they will remember forever and impart on the admitted students what it really means to be part of the Dartmouth family.

The Dartmouth Club of Hawaii hosted an admitted students’ event at the home of Howard Hodel ’75 in Manoa Valley. The reception was very successful, with five admitted students from the area, 16 Dartmouth alumni and 25 family members in attendance. Hodel and the club treated the guests to hors d’oeuvres and vintage wines from five different years.

The Dartmouth Club of Central Massachusetts hosted an admitted students’ night in ly April at the home of Carol and John Bell ’63. Eight students were admitted from the regular decision pool and two students were admitted during the early decision process. There were four students in attendance with their family members who were warmly welcomed by local alumni. The admitted students’ parents were able to speak with parents of current students, which proved to be a fantastic experience. Dartmouth T-shirts were handed out and many stories were told.

The Dartmouth Club of St. Louis had 115 applicants and more than 50 alumni from the area helped to interview the applicants. Bill Hizar ’86 is looking forward to the sendoff event for the class of 2015 that will take place at the end of the summer before the students head off on their freshmen DOC trips.

Breck Smith ’80 from the Dartmouth Club of Delaware was excited to announce that Professor Donald Pease would be the club’s guest speaker at the spring dinner on May 5 at the University and Whist Club in Wilmington. Pease, a Wilmington native, will be welcomed back to talk about his new book centered on Theodor Seuss Geisel ’25. Smith is looking forward to having newly admitted and matriculated students attend this event to meet local alumni.

In other news from across the globe, the Dartmouth Club of Thailand is happy to welcome three exchange students from the class of 2012 who are taking courses at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University. The club has organized a dinner buffet at the home of David Karukin ’48 to bring the students and local alumni together.
