According to a recent article in the Lancaster (Pa.) Sunday News, it didn't take the Rev. Canon PeterGreenfield long to make a difference. Peter arrived in Lancaster in 1983 as the new rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, got off to a running start, and has never stopped. In addition to his duties as rector, he organized the Lancaster Ecumenical Work Camp, a summer program where youths repair, paint, and clean the houses of elderly, needy, and disabled people. He is also a founder and board member of the Betty Finney House, a home for people who are HIV-positive or have AIDS, and started the Lancaster Housing Consortium which helps imperiled property owners keep their homes. It is not surprising that Green-field has been honored with a national Jefferson Award. Peter and Carol have four children of their own, John, Debbie, Kim, and Kyle, and two extended-family members, Sandy and Mark. In the article Peter responded to some questions, from which I learned that he had wanted to become a professional athlete as a youngster, has unfulfilled ambitions to travel to Alaska, Australia, and New Zealand, enjoys his cottage in New England for a really good vacation, and thinks people would be surprised to know that he has a

Another clipping announced that DavidAnderson has joined the Northern Trust Bank in Palm Beach, Fla., as vice president of trust business development. Dave has been a certified financial planner for more than 25 years. He previously was with the Allmerica Financial Group in Miami Lakes and was an executive with three major banks including Barnett Bank of South Florida.

Julie Klein has accepted a nomination to serve on the National Advisory Council of A Tribute to the U.S. Navy, 1941-1945" in Washington. Julie has been active in politics and public affairs since his retirement.

Dartmouth Professor Jere Daniellwas the subject of an article in the Valley News recently. The article provided insight into Jere's active interest in Northern New England history and his many speaking engagements for towns, villages, and other organizations throughout the area. Not surprisingly, he is readily accepted by his audiences as being one of their own. Jere, who speaks from handwritten notes without using any technology except for handouts, uses these sessions not only to share his deep understanding of the subject matter with the listeners, but also, by engaging them in dialog, to pick up information in return. For many people, Jere is all they will ever see or know of Dartmouth, a real plus for the College. We will have an opportunity to witness Jere in action at out 40th Reunion this June.

I hope you have all sent in your reunion reservations by now and have given serious consideration to a significant reunion gift to the Alumni Fund. Our predecessor classes have set a high hurdle for us, but with your help we can set an even higher one for our successors.
