Miss Elizabeth Gilman, Mt. Holyoke '23, daughter of the late Rev. Burton S. Gilman of '91, has been appointed a research assistant in chemistry at Yale University. She is the first woman to receive this appointment, which has been given only to men who have shown marked ability in research, usually after at least a year's graduate work at Yale. Miss Gilman has been a member of the department of chemistry at Mt. Holyoke since her graduation, and has completed two pieces of research, the results of which will be ready for publication this spring.
