By the time you folks read this column, the foliage has changed, the gridiron has turned from green to brown, and we have a good idea whether the football team has carried on the Blackman tradition. I still have visions of Spangenberg, Creelman, Dephouse, Kelly, Curran. It's amazing how our attention in life changes from pigskins, to sheepskins, to oil skins, to Danskins. Oh well, the news: Jay Meltzer has joined Zayre Corporation as vice president, corporate counsel. Jay is responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance to officers and directors of the corporation and to all other corporate personnel. (So the next time you slip on a banana peel in Zayre's, you will be dealing with Zayre's top legal banana.) Jay was previously corporate counsel to Damon Corporation of Massachusetts before joining this Fortune 500 company.

Let me make an abrupt switch to the theological front. J. Randall Nichols represented Dartmouth at the inauguration at the Princeton Theological Seminary in March of this year. (Apparently, with the way Princeton football has been going lately, they felt some divine affiliation may prove appropriate.)

The Reverend Bob Mac Arthur has been named acting associate dean of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation at the College. The Tucker Foundation seeks to embody the concern for the moral and spiritual aspects of higher education. Current programs include the College Chaplaincy, Hillel, internships and fellowships, and Dartmouth Community Services. Bob has been affiliated with the Tucker Foundation since he served as Episcopal chaplain to the College from 1967 to 1969. We all know of Bob's outstanding leadership as director of the Outward Bound program since 1972. Apparently, now Bob is more inward bound.

From the theological, let's switch to the sociological. Herb McCord has been drafted into running our 20th reunion. He is looking for volunteers and can be reached at Greater Media Inc., P.O. Box 859, 197 Highway 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816, 201/ 247-6161. The dates for the reunion are June 14 through June 16, 1985. Word has it that Herb is planning an extravaganza extraordinaire with Jackie Wilson, The Drifters, James Brown, and The Coasters expected to make guest appearances.

That's it for this month. (Oh, by the way, Ehney, I've been so busy following my Hurricanes, the national champs, I haven't kept up with whether Alabama still has a football program. Did they bury the program when they buried the bear?) Bye.

Keith Young '65, left, encountered Dartmouth Medical School professor Evan Douple, right, at a match sponsored by the Royal Marsden Hospital squash league in London, where Young lives and where Douple is on sabbatical.
