Our great class had such a good time at the 25th reunion that a campaign visit to Hanover by Senator Clinton went largely unnoticed even by Democrats. For those who could not make it, we truly missed you. The skies never looked bluer, the Green never looked greener and Hanover never looked more picturesque than this weekend. Somehow we recognized each other as if 25 years had never passed. We really look good. The reunion book is an amazing publication thanks to Mary Thomson Renner, Gray Reisfield Horan and Leslie Fleming. If you could not make the reunion, you must get a copy as the stories are funny and touching and uplifting and thought-provoking.Trust me. Thanks to reunion co-chairs Eric Miller, Jim Vahey and Brook Tolley Confort, to treasurers John Hastings and Dave Plekenpol, to food coordinators Laura Murray Dobbin and Sharon Flynn Mcclymonds and to the 18 or so on the committee for a memorable weekend. New class secretaries Cathy Judd-Stein and David Eichman can report on the records we broke in their first column. Alumni Fund co-chairs John Nicholson and Betsy Legget managed to squeeze 5.4 million green bills out of our class. Well done. I could never mention all of the friends I alone caught up with or the wonderful classmates I met, so here are a few highlights. I met Steve Becker for the first time. He is an ENT specialist in Las Vegas and we chatted about how he uses his one Spanish class on a daily basis. I ran into Tim Geibel, my freshman trip companion, at the golf course. I found my fraternity brothers Lee Apgar, Bruce Weissberg and Mark Nesline at the class tent. Bruce had to leave at 4:30 Sunday morning and Dov Frazer, still partying, waved goodbye from Phi Delt. A concert in Spaulding featured our own extremely talented classmates Seth Swirsky, Matt Yee, Michael Rafter and alumni glee club members. I chatted with fellow Richardson floormates Geoff Wall, Neil Smiley and John Connolly at the class dinner on the Baker lawn. I met Lisa Harrison Kender for the first time and we talked about raising kids and the range of ages of '82 children. It is obvious that some of you are not finished with the procreating and they may need to have a kids' tent at our 50th. I helped at the registration desk with Kristin Farrish Shaw and learned that she lives in Norwich. I talked with Jenny Chandler cHauge about St. Andrews (Scotland), where her daughter finished her first year. Fellow Rox major Sarah Melcher and I chatted about how different it really was for women at Dartmouth in 1978. Dan Hull, the captain and owner of a commercial fishing business in Alaska, and Peter Saltsman and I talked one night about teaching children with autism. Tee Lotson figured out that we knew each other from Granada-LSA and that I was not in C & G with her. I met Bob Faber and his wife, Rebecca. We talked about what it is like for them to live, to minister and to raise their family in Bulgaria. At the DOC house dinner John Figone told me he was flying back to California early so that he could wake up on Father's Day and eat the burnt pancakes made by his three sons. I congratulated Jon Merriman on his engagement and met his bride-to-be. Rob Ford brought his son and his Father and his new bride, Samantha. Robs son Luke (9) now wants to go to Dartmouth. After this past weekend, so do I. So do I.
