On September 3, a complimentary dinner was given in Boston to F. H. Hardison, the occasion being his passing the eightieth milestone of his life. In the August 25 issue of the Insurance Age-Journal, a two-column editorial gave an appreciative summing up of Hardison's abilities and especially his service to insurance. Other publications have given expression to similar judgments.
In the April issue of Leprosy Notes, the organ of the British Empire Leprosy Relief Association, a contribution on "Leprosy in Europe," by Rev. Justin E. Abbott, D.D., furnished interesting notes, from personal observation and inquiry, on the number of lepers and their care and treatment in Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Jugoslavia, Italy, and Switzerland. Dr. Abbott is continuing his translations from Marathi into English out of the writings of the poet-saints of India. Only about a tenth of the inhabitants of India understand Marathi, but the educated classes in India read English.
