REPORT FROM THE ATHLETIC COUNCIL
AUGUST 1930 L. G. HODGKIN3 '00

In reporting for the Athletic Council Mr. Hodgkins presented a tabulated statement of the receipts and disbursements for the year and the records of the various athletic teams.

Football was, as usual, the only sport showing a surplus and from these receipts all the other sports were carried during the year. The operations for the year showed a net pirofit of $56,720 which was added to the surplus fund, bringing this to an approxi- mate total of $246,720. Among the note- achievements in athletics during the year was the championship won by the base- ball team in the newly formed Intercollegiate League.

Mr. Hodgkins presented Mr. Harry E. Heneage '07 to the Council. Mr. Heneage spoke informally of his recent trip to England where he was able to secure first-hand information concerning English amateur athletics and particularly concerning the problem of establishing a crew at Dartmouth. Mr. Heneage said that a good deal of support had been offered to the College for the inauguration of rowing and that he felt that this sport would add greatly to the general athletic program of the College. Both Mr. Hodgkins and Mr. Heneage answered questions following their talks.

Under the item of miscellaneous business the question of the next meeting of the Council arose and after discussion in which New York, Boston, and San Francisco were suggested as possible meeting places, it was VOTED: That the Alumni Council hold its annual fall meeting in New York city, Friday, October 31.
