The varsity returned to the field at the start of the second half, with Frank Nairne replacing Conti at right halfback and making his debut for the season. Kiernan almost immediately intercepted a Bates pass and ran 30 yards to score. Wellman kicked off for the Bobcats, and Kiernan took the ball on his 10-yard line and behind first-rate interference scampered 87 yards down the field to Bates' 7-yard stripe. Two tries later he carried over for the touchdown, and Joe Handrahan kicked the point. The second team again went into action, with Warren King at the left halfback post, and after only a few plays the diminutive ball-carrier whizzed through tackle, reversed his field, and scored on a dazzling 45-yard run. Aided by Christiansen and Archibald, the lightweight halfback also featured an 85-yard advance culminating in a touchdown by Christiansen. The Indians' final tally was made by John Armour in the fourth period, and Tino Lando converted the point to complete the Big Green's scoring for the day.
Bates scored its lone touchdown on a lucky break, when they recovered a punt that bounced off Archibald's leg on the Green 7-yard line, and on fourth down completed a pass in the right flat zone. This touchdown play brought into bold relief the work that needs to be done on Dartmouth's pass defense.
