In greeting all '93 men in this first issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE for the College year of '41-'42, I most gratefully acknowle dge my appreciation of the support given me in my efforts as Class Agent of the Alumni Fund. The number of contributors was increased considerably over previous years and the percentage of our quota was raised.
Since Spring I have received letters from "Quin" Eaton, "Capt" Sparhawk, "Billy" Jarvis, "Bob" Boutelle, Fred Morrill, Rufus Baker, Arnold, "Deacon" Kinney, "Pop" Place, "Hod" Greely, Frank Pelton, John Child, "Dayton" Miller, "Joe" Merrill, Mrs. Leach, Mrs. Abbott, Mrs. Goss, Mrs. Rowell, and Mrs. Gordon. All of these are very interesting and it is to be regretted that space does not permit details in this issue but '93 notes in later issues of the MAGAZINE will give them.
Calls on "Skid" have found him comfortable and very active in his writings as a veteran newspaper man of New Hampshire.
"Pop" Place was the University Marshall (as he always is) at Syracuse University's Commencement.
The Milford, Mass. Daily News of May 15th carried, on the first page, a large picture, in the center of which was our classmate Caswell flanked by many dignitaries. It was the occasion of a testimonial ban- quet to School Superintendent Caswell upon his retirement. A long story accom- panied the picture telling of the great work which Caswell had done for Milford. A great many complimentary remarks by those who had gathered to do him honor were made and a personal greeting from Governor Saltonstall was one of the features.
'93 received an official invitation to attend a reception on Saturday afternoon of Commencement week from the fifty-year reunion class of 1891 and a number of us were able to accept. (See July issue ALUMNI MAGAZINE page 27.) Judge Griffith, Dr. Martyn, and your Secretary were housed in North Mass Hall, the headquarters of the 45th reunion class of 1896. (Also see July issue page 28.)
Mc Kay was with us although he stopped at the old Junction House (now the Coolidge Hotel). "Lil" Eaton D. M. C. '93, spending the summer at Post Mills, Vt., was with us most of the time.
One of the features of the '91 Reunion was the reading by Tewksberry '91, of a poem of greetings to '91 from Willis T. Sparhawk '93. This poem is worthy of publication in the MAGAZINE and may be seen there later.
