The Dartmouth Alumni Council recently considered the distraught condition of world affairs as affecting college activities, and came to the conclusion that Class Reunions may have to be waived for the duration, at least. Just how the current world upheaval will affect the projected 50th reunion of '95, no one can predict with certainty. This event would normally take place less than three years from now. But since the Council met, the rout of Rommel has brightened the world atmosphere a bit and it may yet happen that we shall be discussing this panoramic war in the past tense, at our 50th Reunion.

Here is one '95 man's soliloquy on the situation: "St. John The Second, just home from London and having a quiet country home some three miles from where I am now sitting, is solemnly predicting six years to come of this abominable, diabolic world affair. '95's 50th, occurring within the duration, can only be a sorry affair, I'm thinking. My health, at present, looks good enough to carry me on two or three years; but at 72, one's days are fickle and untrustworthy, and even if they last on sufficiently, I doubt my ability to radiate good cheer on the occasion of the half-century goal-reaching of '95 the while the world is wallowing in the anguish that now appears to be an absolute certainty." How do other '95ers feel, I wonder? I shall be glad to hear from a few or more as the spirit moves. The question is, shall we prepare for our 50th Reunion or forego it? Probably the proper answer is, wait and see.

Frank Austin is still living a semi-independent life on his "5 acres in Paradise," which means that he is raising hens, chickens and eggs on his small ranch in the rural fringe of Winter Park, Florida.

Arthur Bugbee declares that his life consists of diligent toil in his garden an hour or two a day, plus eating, sleeping, and reading. He declares: "We are far enough .back in the hills so that we are not worried by bombing or subs."

"Mike" Adams is living a life of retirement in Pasadena, Cal. He resigned last year from the staff of California Tech.

"H. Dan" Watson writes: "Unable from age and physical handicaps to have any direct part in the service of my country, I am doing my best these days to fill in where some young man gone has left a gap."
