Jack Fitzsimmons was elected to partnership in the law firm of Willkie Farr and Gallagher in New York City, effective January 1.
Jim O'Connell writes: "Betsy, Matt (age six), Mary (age three), Michael (age one), and I made it to the warmland. Now rooted in Tempe, Ariz., where I am event coordinator (assistant director) of Gammage Center for the Performing Arts at Arizona State University. We put on 500 to 600 events each year, serving nearly three-quarters of a million people in a 3,000-seat concert theater, a 300-seat chamber music studio, a 15,000-seat arena, a 70,000-seat stadium, and a historic house/museum. Betsy is a registered nurse catching babies on the night shift and teaching moms how to have them (Lamaze classes, not porno shows) in the evenings. Down here in the desert, we have traded green for shades of sand and terra cotta, but Dart Coll still hangs on the walls. By the way, 38,000 students is a lot more than 3,800."
Andy Harriman shares this news of the Harriman family: "Libby was seven in September. She had a wonderful time in first grade, with a really excellent teacher, and her second grade promises to be just as productive. We keep thinking that at some point, like all kids, she will be impossible to deal with, but until then we are really enjoying our life with her.
"Sam is now four. He started nursery school last spring and now goes three days a week. Cindy has spent the bulk of her time digging deeper into microcomputers for business applications. Last year she completed her third (and probably last) season of tax work with H&R Block. This fall, she began a weekly column on micros for Portsmouth Magazine and started giving weekly seminars at the Portsmouth library.
"As for me, my market management responsibilities continue to challenge and expand the 'technical groupie' aspect of my personality."
And from John Shanahan: "Michael (age four and a half) learned to swim this past summer and has a sincere desire to become the third 'Duke of Hazard.' Merrick (age two and threequarters), a textbook case of the 'terrible twos,' is doing some gymnastics and is enamored of harassing the dog. Barbara (six months), eats, sleeps, etc. and is an absolute joy. Martha is still coaching field hockey at Scarsdale High School, is starting a gymnastic program for our grade school, is playing lots of tennis and bridge, and is now on the town's B team for paddle ball. No wonder the house looks like a run-down version of Hot'l Baltimore.
"I am still trying to recover all those marvelous real estate loans I have made over the last three and a half years at U.S. Trust. I am still having fun and marginally maintaining both sanity and solvency. I ran into Charlie Collier and his wife Sally at the Princeton game. He has been working for Princeton since shortly after our tenth reunion and seems to enjoy it a great deal."
Finally, we received word from the Alumni Records Office of the College that SusanneBrendel Pandich is now an adopted member of our class.
That's all for now. Please send in your news and news of our classmates.
