The Red Sox fell and now the leaves are attempting to prove that they can also fall, but the sight of the latter is much more beautiful than the former. "Wait until next year," is a cry that is getting tiresome to the ever-present New Englander. On to more pleasant news.

Most recent arrivals at the Hanover Inn are several of the '43's - Bud Wiggin, Stan Priddy, Stan Lambert, Van Lloyd and John Hathaway. Your secretary is going to try to sign his name on the register next month when there will be a meeting of the class officers at the Holy Cross game. I am looking forward not only to seeing the game, but also having a chance to renew many friendships over many a glass.

An . interesting letter arrives from John Goode from 56 Brook Manor, Pleasantville, N. Y. I would like to pass it on to you.

"Dear Waldo: I am very pleased to announce the birth of our third child, second son, Richard Hever Goode II, on September 23, 1956. He joins Brewster Douglas, age three, and Anne Sheldon, age two. For the past one and a half years I have been employed by Time, Inc. as a sales representative for 'Fortune.' Think you are doing a fine job keeping us all posted on the class news."

George Barlow has been appointed U.S. Commissioner in Trenton, N. J. He is also assistant U.S. attorney in that area. The commissioner is equivalent to a magistrate in the state courts, so if any of you get into trouble in Trenton, we now have influence in that area.

Dick Eyman with his wife and six children spent a month in Hanover with his in-laws. That is a brave boy!

Dr. Charlie Kane has been appointed assistant medical examiner of Plymouth County by Governor Herter. This would seem to indicate that our class has become a political force to be reckoned with. This information reached me via Elmer Stevens, who also notifies us that Tom Gerber has been appointed Washington correspondent for the Boston Herald. You all saw the lovely article on BusMossbacher in last month's issue. Bus continues to be the outstanding skipper on the Eastern seaboard.

Don Kingsley has been elected vice-president of House Magazine Institute, an association of two hundred and fifty editors of magazines and publishers in and around New York.

A note from John Paidar reveals the information that he has four children, including twins, and is a director of the Emil Paidar Company in Chicago. He also gives me the news that Connor Shaw is manager of a new surburban store of the Marshall-Field Company, and that Walter Howe is studying for his Ph.D. in Boston.

Pres Brooks and his wife Ellen have two children. He is with the Ohio Citizens Trust of Toledo, and has the chance to see JohnConn and Hal Lockwood occasionally. Also, he tells me that Charlie Schwartzbaugh is treasurer of Toledo's number one department store.

No column would be complete without telling you that Fred Stockwell has been appointed Red Feather chairman of Cambridge, Mass. Fred continues to be an outstanding member of the community and a credit to the class of '43.

This is all for now. Keep in touch with letters, which are getting sparse, and withut them it is difficult to put together an interesting column.
