Charlie Brock reports, on March 28th, that he survived his 79th birthday (March 27) but he hesitated to approach the next one, the 80th. Since last reported in the March issue he has had a bad case of "flu" which came about the same time as death of a brother-in-law, which makes him even more hesitant about that next birthday. Cheer up Charlie—we shall need your professional services after the war.
Charlie Cobb seems still to be making good copy for the Western Mass. papers. Wish we could print his last report on the outcome of the Court action arising from Charlie's repression of one Klein who talked too much and too often at town meeting "to suit moderator Cobb." These are war times and paper is scarce, so we will only report that Cobb's reputation as an effective town moderator is secure for all time.
Fred Pattee, letter typed just after he had filed his income tax return, indicated he had come through the ordeal with flying colors, but he did not record the reason for his jubilation. No doubt his tax was more than he expected it would be. The 22nd of March marked Pat's 79th birthday. He says he is beginning to suspect he is growing old, is quite sure of it when he reflects on his 34 years as a member of the faculty of Penn State and his 14 years at Rollins College. He retires from Rollins at the close of this summer term. In closing he sends his love to the other "antiques." The Secretary has reserved his share, and the rest to be divided among those who qualify.
Leon Viau—we learn through the College office has been for 2 years under treatment for arthritis at the Hopewell Sanatorium, Preakness, N. J. No word from him direct but I am sure his arthritis would be improved by a letter from '88.
Wendell Williams—sends a good report of his and Mrs. Williams' well being. After a good season last summer at the Lake Placid Club, they had indefinite plans for part of the winter in the South but feeling so well they put off the Southern trip until it was so late it hardly seemed worth while.
