Boston University on March 13, the 70th anniversary of the founding of its School of Law, conferred an LL.D. upon Sherman Roberts Moul ton, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Vermont. The interesting address given on that occasion by our classmate was well reported in the BostonHerald.

As the Alumni Fund gets under way for another year it is pleasing to note that Denis Crowley's fine work of last year was especially commended by the committee in the April MAGAZINE.

"Bill" Hewes is working fast and furiously on the construction of the New Alaska highway. His four stalwart sons are all in the service, two building ships, one as a government engineer and one as a Regional Director of the Farm Security Administration.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pope have invited '98 to their beautifully located home in Sandwich, Mass. for the annual June RoundUp. A large attendance is expected.

This is one of the critical years in the life of Dartmouth: May we all respond promptly and generously to the Alumni Fund.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wells of 120 Collins Rd., Waban, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Virginia Fehr Wells, to Ensign James Russell Chandler Jr., U.S.N.R., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Russell Chandler of Plymouth, formerly of Waban, Mass.

Miss Wells was graduated from Colby Junior College in 1939. Ensign Chandler was graduated from Tabor Academy and in 1958 from Dartmouth where he was a member of D.K.E. fraternity. Miss Wells and Mr. Chandler plan to be married in June.
