CONGRATULATIONS TO Baxter Prescott '39 for managing our very successful Spring Get-Together at the Raleigh Hotel May 22. About 50 alumni plus wives or lady-friends enjoyed the evening immensely. The first event on the program was a bit of unscheduled entertainment furnished by Win Hobbs '33 in setting up the movie equipment. Jim Vale '2O then stepped into the breach and operated the projector and we were treated to several fine reels of Dartmouth movies. Next on the program was dancing to the strains of the "juke box" and some very fine choral work on the part of the boys when the old music box broke down.
Just a few of those present were: the Warren Kendalls '99, the Larry Popes '18, Lou Fortuna '38, Sam Englander '32, George Hull '18, the Dick Whites '18, the Fred Pearces 'l5, the Hank Batchelders '35, the Joe Willimets '36, and the Page Worthingtons '33.
Due to the rationing of gas and tires we are sorry that we must drop from our program the annual picnic at Bay Ridge, Maryland. This has always been one of the best parties of the year, and we will certainly miss it. However, to compensate in part for its loss we will have a picnic in Rock Creek Park which is readily accessible. The feature of the day will be a stellar Softball game between the class of '33 and Barto's All Stars, followed by supper and singing.
Speaking of Softball—all men who have a desire to play the game should contact Stirling Wilson '16. Stirling is captain of the Dartmouth team which battles every Sunday morning in a suburban league. Stirling not only bears the responsibility of being captain of the team but he plays a brilliant game at short-field. He has reported the following men as being mainstays of the club: Bill Yelverton '36, Vandy Lee '39, Baxter Prescott '39, Bob Harvey '41 and Howie Sargeant '32.
Seen recently at our weekly luncheon were: Ken Harvey '24, Fred Smith '25, John Chipman '19, John Detlefson 'O8 and Bill Brown '3O. Oh yes—we continue our Tuesday luncheons right on through the summer. So in order to get relief from Washington's summer heat, come to the air-conditioned Annapolis Hotel every Tuesday at 12:30 and enjoy an hour of good fellowship and get the news from Hanover via "The Dartmouth."
