"Worcester, Mass., Feb. 20 (AP)—Dr. Gardner N. Cobb turned the clock back a generation or two early today. Called out of bed at 4:30 A.M. to attend a sick child in Memorial Hospital, he set off by automobile but didn't get far in the blizzard that was sweeping the area. He returned home, saddled his mare and made the trip without incident."
Jack Andrews writes he has retired from active business and is taking life quite easily. He has a fine equipped shop in his basement, and spends most of his time there. He calls himself a Home Craftsman, and does all kinds of repair jobs, and has become a sort of glorified fix-it man, having all the business he can possibly handle. Edith and he have been on an extensive auto trip South, visiting friends and children all along the way, even as far as New Orleans.
Bert Closs still keeps up his ice skating and recently took part in a skating carnival where he claims he was able to demonstrate ta his children and grandchildren that he could still cut his initials and 1901 in the ice.
Johnnie Ward is hard at work on his annual campaign for the Alumni Fund. Everyone should give him a hand and come across generously and promptly, so as to make it easier for him. He is doing a magnificent job, so let's help him all we can.
Plans have been made to have another dinner for the first five classes of the century this spring. The date will be May 10, Friday night, and at the same place, Schraffts on West St., Boston. The Class of 1901 had a good crowd out last year but we think we can beat that record. It will be a good time to arouse enthusiasm (if that be needed) for a large attendance at the Forty-Fifth to be held in Hanover in July.
Bill Sykes writes that with the difficulties of travel, also the care and attendance necessary to carry on his farm, he does not believe he will be able to come on for the Reunion. He is very sorry to miss it as he has a very warm place in his heart for the class and its associations. We shall miss you too, Bill, and well remember the efforts you have made in previous years to be with us, and will the girls ever forget your folk-lore stories of Porto Rico!
At the Boston Alumni Dinner held February 27, the following men gathered around the class table, Cox, Cheever, Wood, Bryant, Calderwood, Sampson, Dunnington, Denison, Chase and Ward. Remember the dates for the Reunion this year in Hanover are July 26- 27-28-29 so we are hoping you are making your summer plans with these dates in mind. A campaign is on for 100% attendance, so we cannot take no for an answer. Already the following men say they will be there to greet you: Rugg, Page, Newhall, Raphael, Remsen, Newcomb, Ward, Stevens, Vanderhoof, Marsh, Gibbons, McGovern, Wood, Pierce, Warren, Lyon, Hildreth, Dearborn Sampson, Hancock and Hovey. Let us put your name down too.
