ON THE LAST WEEKEND of this month, starting Friday, June 28, the series of postwar reunions of Dartmouth alumni will get under way. The first reunions will be held concurrently with the first postwar College Commencement. Announcements of the program have been sent from Hanover to members of all classes scheduled for reunions, and it is necessary to urge the return of dormitory reservation cards to the Bursar's Office as early as possible. In order to allocate dormitory space and prepare for handling the large groups involved, the College must have as complete attendance information as possible. Estimates on attendance at each of the six successive reunion weekends are higher than had earlier been predicted.
Individual classes have built their own programs, and this information has gone out to their groups. The major events scheduled, as listed in the reunion brochure which went to all alumni early in May, include a reception by President and Mrs. Dickey on each Friday evening of reunion,. followed by an alumni dance. Saturday morning Webster Hall will be the scene of a meeting of the General Association of Alumni. At this time, in addition to the highlight address of the morning by President Dickey, there will be addresses by representatives of the classes then in Hanover and by an administrative officer of the College describing the over-capacity enrollment problems faced by the College. On Saturday evening the Dartmouth Players will present "Love Rides the Rails," an old fashioned melodrama which promises to blend into the reunion spirit.
Individual class reunion programs have been developed around these major events and also include banquets, barbecues, class hums, golf, tennis, picnics, buffets, and softball games.
Every class will have a dormitory headquarters and an adjoining tent for social gatherings. On Friday of each week, from June 28 through July 26, Hanover will turn from its summer session for nearly 1,000 veteran students to accommodating as many or more alumni and their families.
Hanover Holiday, the popular series of faculty lectures, will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each reunion week.
