Have been hoping that Max Hartmann would make me a visit so I could report a few of the high-lights of his wanderings, but I haven't seen or heard from him since he landed on our shores.

Jess Gage passed away on January 18 from a heart attack. Jess was a regular attendant at our Boston dinners and always had a smile on his face in spite of being crippled and suffering from arthritis. At his funeral the class was represented by Chapin, Denison,Powers, Russell and Whittemore. Harvey also sent flowers for the class.

Had a cheerful note from Kid Gleason recently. He is the same old kid. Always comes up smiling even if the count is three and two."

Shortly after you read this, the opening gun of the 1954 Alumni Fund will be fired. I hope all of you have read Ford Whelden's article in the January MAGAZINE about class gifts to the College. Everyone of us should be proud that 1906 ranks next to the top. All of us, also, should be inspired to continue the good work by doing our .share this year.

Only twelve members failed to contribute last year. If any of you would like to help bring those twelve men into the fold, drop me a line and I will send you their names.

I am sure the class would want to give a "Wah Hoo Wah!" to Noble Bowlby, our oldest member, who celebrated his 81st birthday on January 19.

At a recent meeting of Phi Beta Kappa associates, Howard Chidley was elected a member. Thurlow Gordon and Nat Leverone are also members of this organization, the membership of which is limited to 200.
