Harry Howard Lynch died at Orlando, Florida, on February 13, 1948. An obituary notice prepared by him before his death will be found in the IN MEMORIAM column.
At the last meeting of the Boston Alumni Association, Charles W. Bartlett '27, was elected president, twenty-five years before that our own Joe, his father, had been given the same honor; and twenty-five years before that, Joe's father, Charles W., was the president. What a twenty-five year cycle!
It is always pleasant to learn about the families of our classmates and Mrs. Duncan has furnished some very interesting facts about that of hers and Charlie's. Laurence ('27) did not follow in the footsteps of Charlie for he went into law and is a Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. He had served one year on the Superior bench and in December, 1946, was elevated to the Supreme Court. He is also president of the Merrimac County Alumni Association, after serving ten years as its secretary-treasurer. He has two sons, Stuart, 14, and Jimmie, nine. Charlie's daughter, Eleanor, is married to Rev. Walter P. Brockway, resides in Auburn, N. H., where her husband is pastor of the Community Church. They have four children, two boys and two girls ranging from five years to 15. Their other daughter Margaret is also married to a minister, Rev. Howard E. Short, and resides in Lexington, Ky., where her husband teaches church history in the seminary connected with the Transylvania College. They have one daughter five years old. Seven grandchildren, but Bucky still leads.
Do you remember Hanover in June, the emerald green of the campus, the lofty majestic elms, the evenings on the Senior Fence? Even though you cannot now stoop to play stick knife as of yore, you may enjoy the beauties of this old beautiful town by coming back in June for the 50-Year Reunion. Do not be one who will later regret not having come back to see the old friends, renew the old acquaintances, feel the friendly hand-shake and bring back the old memories. If you are one of those who do not return, you will be in a small minority for the reports indicate a large attendance. Two months from the time you are reading this the reunion will be a thing of the past and will never come again. Come on back, you will enjoy every minute and be well and amply repaid. The 50-Year Reunion comes but once in a life time!
